Study: Night Owls More Likely to Be Poor Workers
Researchers from the University of Oulu Finland have that night owls may be poorer workers than early risers.
The researchers examined data from over 5,800 46-year-olds, who completed a survey to determine whether they were “evening” or “morning” people. Participants also rated their own “work ability”, indicating how well thought they were able to work on a scale from 0 to 10.

Evening people were those who said they were more likely to have trouble getting up in the morning and feel tired early in the day. They were also less likely to want to do physical activity early in the day and preferred working later.
The researchers found that 28% of evening-type men and 24% of evening-type of women said they had poor working ability — about twice the percentage of morning-type men and women, and almost twice that of the intermediate groups.
The researchers also looked at the impact of chronotype on early disability pension claims. In a follow-up study, they found that almost 3% of the evening had received disability pensions between the ages of 47 and 50, compared to a little over 1% among morning and intermediate types.
chronotype [noun]

disability pension [noun]

illness [noun]
A disease or the body or mind
The authors wrote that their findings suggest individuals and organizations should take chronotype into account when it comes to planning work schedules, such as making it possible for people to work hours that suit them.
Discussion
If you could choose your own working hours, when would you work? Why?
If I could choose my own working hours, I will choose that go to work early and get off work before at evening. Because I want to free time what finished working so when I go back home early, I can spend time, for example, read books, walk a park, and make some cookies. But if I go to work normal time that 9 to 6 or 8 to 5, I think I don’t have enough time that I use for my habits. Therefore, I choose my working hour early than normal full-time work hours.
